How much does it cost to build a basketball court?
Most of the cost of a court is set by two things: how big it is and what it is made of. Pick a size, a surface and the extras you want, and the calculator multiplies the area by typical installed prices from published US cost guides, then adds site work and extras.
It gives a range to plan with, not a quote for your job.

Where these prices come from
The rates per square foot combine published US cost guides, all read October 26, 2026:
- HomeAdvisor backyard basketball court cost guide (updated June 19, 2026): the overall range, half and full court prices, asphalt, site work, lighting, fencing, striping, hoops and labor.
- VersaCourt backyard court cost page: concrete slabs ($4 to $10 per sq ft for a 4 inch, 3,000 PSI slab with #4 rebar) and tile kit prices.
- Sport Court of Austin game court cost guide (updated June 17, 2026) and its resurfacing comparison (updated July 7, 2026): tiles, acrylic coatings, turnkey dealer prices, netting, rebounders and retaining walls.
- Kiefer USA gym floor cost article: maple hardwood ($12 to $26 per sq ft).
- Fixr (updated September 2022, older): permit fees from $100.
Coated and tiled rates add a surface price to the slab price, so they are our arithmetic on those published figures. We do not build courts or set prices; a builder quotes your own job.

Is this a quote?
No. It is a typical range from published figures, a guide and not a quote. A builder prices your site after seeing it. We can pass your request to an independent court builder who covers your area.
